Start →Refugee eligibility and admissibility Refugees sponsored to Canada must meet some eligibility and admissibility requirements. Eligibility relates to whether the person is a refugee, and admissibility to criminality or other bars. 1. How is a refugee eligible? 2. How is a refugee admissible? After applicants are found to be eligible, they are screened for admissibility. All applicants included in the sponsorship application must be admissible. Admissibility screenings are completed on three different topics: Medical screening : to ensure the individual is not a danger to public health Security screening : to ensure the individual does not pose a threat to national security, or have involvement in violations of human rights Criminality screening : to ensure the individual does not have a history of serious or organized crime Questions about some of these issues can be found on the immigration form Schedule A (see the section Application forms for refugees) to be completed by the refugee applicant. The Refugee Sponsorship Training program has developed an extensive FAQs about admissibility. 3. When do refugees have a durable solution? Private sponsorship in 2017 ← End |
